Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • We offer two distinct services in Northern Virginia.

    1. A care-free excursion to three wineries in the Virginia countryside, ranging from 1 to 2.5 hours from D.C.. And, if there is interest, we offer a charcuterie-to-go (what we call All ABoard Bites), as an add-on, to enjoy while visiting the wineries. For those not wishing to add-on with a charcuterie board - not to worry - 4 sandwich options will be included with the price of the tour.

    2. A full-scale menu of cheese and charcuterie boards, for any occasion, formal or informal, big or small.

  • We will officially open our business on September 18, 2025, but reservations opened on August 15. Those on the VIP list had access to booking prior to the general public, beginning in early August, for tours beginning September 18. Likewise, we opened the website to begin taking orders for cheese & charcuterie boards on August 15, with early access to our VIP list in early August, for deliveries beginning September 18.

  • Yes. We create artisan cheese and charcuterie for both winery tours and stand-alone special occasions. Add our “All ABoard Bites” as an optional tour add-on during booking on the Experiences page, or order from the full Charcuterie menu for parties, picnics, and events. Dietary notes welcome.

  • When you’re ready to book a tour, simply go to our Experiences page and it will step you through a few simple steps and then you will proceed to our Booking page, where you can lock in your date and make payment.

When you’re ready to place a Cheese or Charcuterie Board order, simply go to our Charcuterie page, choose your board, add to cart, and then proceed to the Cart (upper right corner of the page) to schedule delivery and make payment.

Payments can be made via Stripe, which accepts a wide variety of payment methods, including major credit cards and digital wallets.

  • Tours: Recommend 4-6 weeks in advance, for weekends, especially in the autumn, our busiest season.

Charcuterie: Require at least 48 hours notice.

  • We completely understand! You can modify or cancel your reservations up to 48 hours prior to the tour start with no penalty. Cancellation fee of $50 per person will apply to any cancellations made within 48 hours of tour departure, and no refund will be provided for cancellations within 24 hours of tour departure. Winery tasting fees are not included in your tour price. Tasting fees are pass-through charges (no markup).

After we confirm your itinerary, we’ll bill tasting fees to the card on file either in advance of, or on the day of, your tour. These fees are non-refundable if your tour is canceled within twenty-four (24) hours of the start time. Read the full policy » Contact us anytime via email or on our website.

    See our cancellation policy here.

  • Not yet — but we’re working on it! We plan to offer both tour gift certificates and charcuterie gift cards shortly after our launch. If you’d like to be notified when they’re available, join our VIP subscriber group and you’ll be the first to know.

  • We don’t have a formal loyalty program just yet, but it’s something we plan to introduce in the first few months after launch — stay tuned!

Our tours accommodate up to 10 guests, and pricing is the same regardless of group size. For private group bookings, we may occasionally offer seasonal specials or added perks. And for custom tour requests, we will consider larger groups, unique destinations and will offer custom pricing.

It’s also important to note that many wineries require a physical form of identification so please don’t forget to bring yours.

  • Yes. Take our 45-second Winery Experience Selector and we’ll recommend a region plus Public vs Private, based on your preferences. You can start it right here.

  • When booking, you have the option to choose one of four VA winery regions. Once you book a winery region, our next step will be to firm up which wineries to visit for your tour date. Our tours will rotate among many different wineries as shown on our map on our Experiences page. There are so many to choose from - we know you’ll love all of them! Have you already seen a few? Please let us know which ones, when you book your tour, so that we can make sure not to repeat any.

Your final winery lineup and reservation times appear in the Guide to Your Tour information packet, provided ~72-hour prior to your tour date, via email.

  • The wineries will charge a tasting fee. Some will be guided tastings and some will be self-guided (flights). These fees typically run about $15-$30 per person, on average, per winery.

This cost is incremental to the cost of the tour transportation and will be charged to your card on file, after booking confirmation (and after we’ve finalized plans with the respective wineries).

Some wineries waive the tasting fee with wine purchase or by joining their wine club.

Given that many of the wineries are small and have limited staff, we require pre-payment for tastings in advance so that split bills and long checkout lines can be avoided. This helps the wineries quite a bit.

Upon booking, we will quickly finalize the wineries we will visit for your tour. We will then be in touch with you, in advance of the tour date, to confirm the cost of tastings and to obtain authorization to bill your credit card on file.

For more on tasting fees and other important details, visit our Your Experience Guide.

In addition, you will receive a Guide to Your Tour information packet via email, ~ 72 hours prior to your tour date, which will include a per-person tasting-fee summary and which wineries will be paid in advance (on the day of or just before your tour date, from the credit card we have on file for you).

  • We kindly ask that guests do not bring outside food on board. A freshly made sandwich is included in the cost of your tour, and charcuterie boards are available as an add-on for all tour types.

Guests are welcome to purchase food at the wineries or enjoy a small personal snack, but please note that some wineries have strict rules against outside food while others may allow it. We’ll remind you of each winery’s policy in our Guide to Your Tour, which you’ll receive via email, ~ 72 hours before your trip.

If you’ve ordered charcuterie for your tour, the Guide to Your Tour information packet (provided via email ~72 hours prior to your tour date) confirms board size, allergens and any special requets.

Outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted on the bus, and wineries have very strict no–outside alcohol policies in accordance with Virginia law. Soft drinks are welcome, and we provide complimentary bottled water for all guests.

  • Yes. We offer an optional charcuterie-to-go add-on (we call them “All ABoard Bites”) that’s easy to enjoy between tastings. If you don’t add charcuterie, your tour still includes a choice of four sandwich options at no extra cost. If ordered, your Guide to Your Tour information packet, emailed to you ~72 hours prior to your tour date, confirms board size, allergens and special requests associated with your All-ABoard-Bites order.

We also have a full menu of cheese and charcuterie boards for any occasion—small to large, casual to formal.
    How to order:
    • For a tour add-on: make your selection as you book on the Experiences page.
    • For non-tour orders: visit the Charcuterie page to choose from the full menu and add to cart.
Dietary notes welcome (vegetarian, gluten-free, pork-free, nut-free). We coordinate with winery policies on outside food.

  • Yes — we operate in a licensed, inspected commercial kitchen with a skilled culinary team, and we can generally accommodate most food allergies or dietary restrictions. This applies to both the sandwiches included with your tour and any charcuterie board add-ons.

When booking your tour or placing an order, please note any allergies or special requirements so we can plan accordingly. While we take every precaution to avoid cross-contamination, our kitchen does handle common allergens, so we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

  • Our tours run rain or shine! Virginia wineries can be just as beautiful on a rainy day, with cozy tasting rooms, covered patios, and scenic views through the mist. We recommend dressing comfortably for the weather and bringing an umbrella for any short walks between the vehicle and tasting areas. A little rain just adds to the charm of the day.

  • Bring your physical, government-issued photo ID — most wineries will not serve guests without seeing the actual card, and electronic copies on your phone are not accepted. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as you may be walking between tasting rooms or exploring the grounds. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day (we provide bottled water on the bus), and enjoy a bite to eat between tastings — it helps you pace yourself and make the most of each stop. Most importantly, be ready to have some fun — the day is yours to enjoy!

For a full checklist and tips, see our Your Experience Guide. We will also provide a Guide to Your Tour information packet, ~72 hours in advance of your tour.

  • A seasonal lineup of artisan cheeses, charcuterie, fruit and veg, house dips, and breads/crackers, sized from small to crowd-friendly. For tours, add “All ABoard Bites” during the booking flow on the Experiences page.
